Health Education Curriculum Analysis Tool (HECAT) CDC tool to help districts, schools, and others conduct an analysis of health education curricula based on the National Health Education Standards and the CDC's Characteristics of an Effective Health Education Curriculum. Results can be used to improve the delivery of health education.
National Health Education Standards and Performance Indicators (CDC) Provides a framework for teachers, administrators, and policymakers in designing or selecting curricula, allocating instructional resources, and assessing student achievement and progress. Importantly, the standards provide students, families, and communities with concrete expectations for health education.

Incidental Teaching-80-5.3 A superintendent of schools may assign certified teachers to teach a subject not covered by their certificate (incidental teaching) for a period not to exceed five classroom hours per week, when no certified or qualified teacher is available. However, a superintendent of schools may assign certified teachers to teach a subject not covered by their certificate for a period not to exceed ten classroom hours a week through the 2023-2024 school year, when no certified or qualified teacher is available after extensive and documented recruitment.

SHP | YRBS Surveys The CDC surveys below provide data on health education and services provided by schools and health practices that youth engage in. Together the data offers opportunities for those working in schools to support both academic success and improved health outcomes for youth. The Center administers both surveys for the CDC on behalf of the NYS Education Department in opposite years.
