Underage Drinking Reaches Record Low Levels
The National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA)'s December 2024 Monitoring the Future survey is a study of long-term behaviors of substance use and related attitudes among 8th, 10th, and 12th grade students found:
- A record number of teens report they've never consumed alcohol.
- Past 30-day consumption and binge drinking remain at record lows.
- Over the past 10-years binge drinking has been cut almost in half.
- Peer disapproval of binge drinking remains high among students in all grade levels.
- Ease of access to alcohol decreased significantly among 10th and 12th graders.
