FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Nutrition is now the Human Foods Program

On October 1, 2024, the FDA launched the Human Foods Program, a reorganization structured to enhance food safety and nutrition efforts. This unified program brings together regulatory functions to better protect public health, improve oversight, and modernize food safety measures. These changes aim to streamline processes and enhance collaboration across the FDA.

The Human Foods Program’s mission is to protect and promote the health and wellness of all people through science-based approaches to prevent foodborne illness, reduce diet-related chronic disease, and ensure chemicals in food are safe.
