New York State Department of Health Recommends 2024–2025 COVID-19 Vaccination for All New Yorkers Ages 6-Months and Older
The New York State Department of Health continues to encourage all New Yorkers over the age of 6 months to receive the new COVID-19 vaccine as respiratory illness season begins. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently announced their recommendation that adults ages 65 and older and those who are moderately or severely immunocompromised should receive a second dose of the 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccine six months after their first dose.
Commissioner Dr. McDonald has issued a standing order that allows eligible New Yorkers to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at any pharmacy without a separate prescription from their physician.
