NYSDOH Resources

Schools play a key role in helping prevent and slow the spread of influenza in our communities. This page contains resources for families and staff on preventing seasonal influenza. NYS Public Health Law Section 613 requires licensed and registered day-care programs and schools to post information about the flu and flu vaccine for parents. Resources to do this are below.

NYS Disaster Preparedness Resource:

Pandemic Flu Action Kit for Schools in New York State: The NYS Disaster Preparedness Commission is continuing its comprehensive planning for a potential pandemic. Staff from the State Health and Education Departments and a workgroup made up of county health officials collaborated in the development of a Pandemic Flu Action Kit for Schools in New York State.

This e-toolkit offers numerous resources for school nurses and teachers that can be used to raise awareness about the burden of influenza and the benefits of annual vaccination.
