NYS State Education Department Seeks Input on APR ESSER Plan Development

State Education Department Seeks Input on APR ESSER Plan Development

  • New York State was recently awarded $8.99 billion in federal funds through the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) fund. Under this program, states are required to develop a plan that outlines the work occurring in our state to support schools in safely reopening and sustaining safe operations while meeting the academic, social, emotional and mental health needs of all students, particularly those at-risk.
  • NYSED is in the process of drafting this plan and is seeking public input from all stakeholders around our state’s key priorities for this work through a ThoughtExchange platform. This public engagement tool is now open. Responses received by May 24, 2021 will be reflected in NYSED’s final ARP ESSER plan.
  • We encourage you and your community to share your thoughts on preparing for next school year through ThoughtExchange at https://my.thoughtexchange.com/scroll/400935714/welcome.
  • More information can be found in the attached Press Release, one-pager, and the NYSED ARP ESSER website. We encourage you to share this information widely with stakeholders in your community.
